Visual Model Reflection

I am going to talk about Ritalin and why I do not believe that it should be given to a kid. When I was little, I had learning disabilities and ADHD. My mom decided that when I was in 6th grade that she was going to put me on Ritalin and try it out for at least a couple of months. After a couple of months went by, and it did not help at all, my mom took me off. Yes, it calmed me down but like my doctor had told my mom, that is was going to help me concentrate, it did not. So, my mom did not want me to be keep on it just to calm me down. So, with that said I am against giving it to kids with ADHD. Also, I have another argument. I know this little girl, in my family, she is like my little sister, her name is Felicity, she is 8 years old and has the most severe ADHD I have ever seen before. She is totally out of control. When you tell her to do something, mind you she does hear everything that you are saying, but chooses not to listen because of her ADHD. She is so out there I can even begin to describe exactly how she is. Her parents have to put her on the highest dosage that there is to calm her down. Yes, it calms her down, and for a little while you are thinking, this is great because she is not running away from you or out of control. But after about a half hour, she is like a complete zombie to the world. You ask her a question, and she will just look at you, you ask her to do something, she will just look at you. She is on so high of a dosage that it messes with her mind and she will not talk or do anything. That is my biggest reason why I am so against Ritalin. There has to be another way? I think that when kids are put on Ritalin it is just because no one really has the time or patience to deal with them and so they put them on Ritalin, not in all cases but some. I say that because, that family that I was just talking about, they love there daughter, but that is kind of the reason why they put their daughter on Ritalin because they cant control her. She is an absolute terror.
